I am combing guidebooks and websites for suggestions, hoping for the crumbs that will lead me to the perfect balance of need vs. want. Weight will play a key role in the decision making process. ...and I don't mean mine. Last Saturday I went shopping for a base layer of natural fibres (my son's suggestion). They used to be called long johns. They were wool and you needed a size larger top layer to fit over them. They were red or whitish. Now, they are lighter and a lot less itchy. They come in way too many colors and weights - ones twos or threes - depending on the weather and temperature where one is hiking/walking/skiing/mountain climbing. I was clueless and the young lass at the store just Googled the weather in Northwest Spain in April and, walla, "here is what you need". Color choices were a less simple matter. There is no google site for "Lynn's color scheme on any given day". I must be brave and accept that I may not be matching for the month I am in Spain. Perhaps it will be a new and exciting change for me rather than stressful and disorienting. So many new experiences! I do believe I am up to the challenge.
